Email Campaign
Key Ideas

Here's the basic email campaign marketing idea in a nutshell:

• Develop an email address list of potential customers.
• Email them with information and offers.

Now, let's expand on that basic idea a bit!

• For starters, your email campaign will have to target a particular niche. Choose a topic in which you have expertise, strong interest, or passion. Having excitement for your topic will definitely help build your business.

• Find a good web host so you can build a web page (a full-scale website isn't necessary). You may even be able to do this through your existing Internet Service Provider. With many web hosts, you'll need to have some working knowledge of HTML in order to build your webpage.

(For the best book I've seen to learn HTML, Click Here. Buy this book if you have any need or desire to know about HTML. It's extremely well done, easy to read and understand, with a light and very pleasant approach. It's an excellent reference to have on hand, too.)

If you don't want to do your own HTML coding, you basically have two other choices. You'll need to hire someone (at the hosting company or elsewhere) to build the page(s) for you. Or, you'll have to choose a hosting company that offers a site-builder program requiring no HTML work by you to create the webpage or the website.

• Now that you've found a good web host, create a "landing page." This is a web page people arrive at by clicking on a link they've found in an article, an email message, a signature line in a forum posting, etc. (The landing page is also known by other names such as a "squeeze page" and a "lead capture page." Some people also call it a "microsite.")

The landing page will contain a free offer for a product that people in your niche market would find valuable. The landing page will also contain a signup box to collect their email addresses. (More on landing pages.)

• Purchase a combined email campaign management / autoresponder program such as ListMailPro, OR sign up for an email marketing service such as AWeber Communications.

That will simplify your life and automate most of the little steps involved in running your email campaign. (Some hosting companies such as Site Build It! offer an email list management and autoresponder program as part of their package.)

• Your newsletter is going to be a series of relatively brief, carefully targeted emails you send to your list on a regular basis. (How often you email your list depends in part on how much you have to offer, and how much ongoing interest your list members have in this topic.)

Every email in your email campaign should offer people on your list something of value targeted to your niche. Sometimes it should just contain free information, without a marketing message. Other times, it will have a specific marketing offer that can bring you income. This might involve an affiliate link, a product, a report you've created, etc.

Now, how are you going to get people to visit your landing page?
How are you going to get your initial links in front of people who might be interested in signing up for your newsletter?

• Post helpful comments on forums in your target niche. Include a link to your landing page as part of your signature.

• Do you have infoproducts you could sell to your niche? List them on eBay at a modest price. Put a link to your landing page wherever you can - in the infoproduct itself, in the eBay ad, in your EBay profile, etc.

• Write articles on topics of interest to your niche. Include a link to your landing page as part of your signature. Submit those articles via Article Marketer.

(If you have a website, you can turn those articles into pages on your site. Or use some of your existing website pages as the basis for articles to post online. Add your links.)

• Notice how and where other marketers are posting links.

• Use your imagination. How else can you get your links in front of people who are interested in your niche?

According to the training program by marketing expert David Vallieres, in the early stages of your business you should keep your focus 100% on building your list. Slowly begin to introduce a few offers to your readers until your list reaches 1,000 subscribers.

Then start sending out excellent info and great offers frequently!
